Introduction

A revised family tree, including all known ancestors of both my mother and father.
The main family names included are: -

Casey,  Chase,  Crocker,  Croker,  Davies,  Dockrell,  Lang,  Meadowcroft ,

  Smith  &  Wilkins.

There are, however many others.

I have also taken the opportunity to remove some data which had been imported from other researchers gedcoms and included individuals who were only very remotely connected. There are still problems as this Genealogy program was not designed for Windows XP , and it is no longer functioning properly or reliably. I have therefore updated to Family Tree Maker , and therefore there will be few , if any  updates to this site.
Many thanks to Shirley Parker , Sue Millwood , Ron Meadowcroft, Anita Rothermel, Kath Lightbown and others for their valuable contributions.

Whilst researching my ancestors, two apocryphal stories have come to light :-

a) That our Meadowcrofts did not originally come from Lancashire, but that our name was an Anglicization of a Russian name, and that our ancestors were White Russians who fled persecution by one of the Tsars! There is absolutely no evidence of this , unless there has been an early incidence of identity theft! ( I do wonder if Russian might have been confused with Prussian as I have found one distant Meadowcroft ancestor whose birth was registered in Prussia - although they were noted as being a British Subject).

b) That either the Casey or Chase family had originally fled from Ireland when their public house was burnt down one night in Dublin during riots! This may have happened around 1780, but I cannot find any proof. I do note however that George R Casey, and his wife Emily Chase do not seem to appear in the 1901 UK census . Perhaps they were living in Dublin at that time?
I have found no real evidence of either of these events, although other members of the family have heard similar tales!
Please e-mail if you feel that you have something to add, or believe that you can correct anything!
I have tried to include more photos but there is a link to my on-line photo album below. The scrapbook section contains photos & scans of old photos, gravestones etc.

IMPORTANT  NOTICE

( Added 26-11-2006)

I  shall  cease to  maintain a copy of this family tree on Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange.

However the  Pipex  version remains for  the moment , but as the EasyTree software is no longer maintained by Sierra , and does not work well with Windows XP it is unlikely that there will be any further updates so it would be wise to check the Familytreemaker pages as these will be regularly corrected and updated.
The link from the Wanadoo pages to Pipex does not always work properly. In any case it is better to left click and open in a new window.

You  need to visit the  Familytreemaker pages for the latest version of my research.
